WEST Fifers are being warned to take extra care on the roads as the Met Office has issued a yellow alert of snow for today (Thursday) and tomorrow.
The warning is in place until 3pm on Friday, with a mix of rain, sleet and snow expected across eastern Scotland.
Up to six centimetres of snow could fall, mainly in areas above 100 metres, with up to 10cm in areas above 200m.
At lower levels a mix of rain, sleet and snow is expected, and there is a risk of difficult driving conditions and disruption to transport.
The Met Office forecasts “a spell of persistent and at times heavy snow” tonight lasting into Friday, and between 10 to 20cm could fall on higher ground.
At lower levels and near coasts a mix of rain and snow is expected, with rain likely to predominate.
Drivers are urged to take extra care as there could be the risk of standing water on roads.
