POLICE have confirmed that the body found in a Dunfermline park this morning was that of a 20-year-old woman.
Officers are now offering support to the woman's family, who have been notified.
Police do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
The latest statement released by the police in relation to the tragedy reads: "Police in Fife were called to Headwell Road in Dunfermline around 7.30am on Wednesday 5 October after the body of a 20-year-old woman was found.
"Next of kin have now been traced and officers are supporting them at this difficult time.
"Enquiries into the death are ongoing, however, there are not currently believed to be any suspicious circumstances."
The Press understands the body was discovered by a man walking his dog around 7am this morning.
Roads in the area of Headwell Park and surrounding Headwell Avenue were closed as police and ambulance workers attended the scene.
