WORK to spruce up war graves in Dunfermline has taken place.
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) have carried out the "closing in" work on the city's plots.
A spokesperson for the CWGC explained: "Closing in reduces the size of the headstone borders to our set required specification, to ensure uniformity around the world. Work involved lifting strips of turf and moving it in to required width and filling in the gap with new turf.
"We are fortunate to have such dedicated hard working staff that work to ensure our plots are kept to a consistently high standard."
The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation launched in Scotland earlier this month which the charity said was a "significant milestone" as it will now be able to raise funds in Scotland to ensure their vital commemorative and education work continues.
The aim of the Foundation is to engage and educate people in Scotland with the work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and the men and women it commemorates.
Through innovative educational activities, public events and outreach programmes, the Foundation educates everyone from school groups to World War experts, amateur historians or just those interested in learning more about the names on their local war memorial.
