AN OFFICIAL ground-breaking ceremony to mark the start of work on a new Army Reserve Centre in Dunfermline has taken place.
The event took place at Bruce House in Elgin Street with Army personnel, contractors and council officials including Provost Jim Leishman in attendance.
Planning permission to demolish the existing Bruce House and erect a new centre and office was approved last year.
The new building will house the 239 Squadron and be the Headquarters of 154 Regiment Royal Logistics Core.
The ground-breaking ceremony marked the commencement of construction which is expected to be completed by summer 2025. Major Andrew Honeyman, who was unable to make the ceremony owing to him undertaking a charity event in Africa, will be managing the construction on behalf of Lt Col Johnson MBE.
The Army Reserves Unit will remain open at the existing Elgin Street base while the new facility is under construction.
