A university student local to Dunfermline has written and directed a short documentary film about Saint Margaret of Scotland.
Amber Campbell-Ross, a second-year theatre and film student at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, has made a documentary that is just over three minutes long about the saint and her importance to Dunfermline.
Born in Kirkcaldy, but always local to Inverkeithing and Dunfermline, Amber worked with actor and friend Ryan Donnelly who previously starred in Walking Down the Halbeath Road at the Alhambra Theatre. Ryan has also just completed a voice-over piece in which he played Andrew Carnegie.
Speaking of why she chose to focus on Saint Margaret, Amber commented: “We chose it funnily enough because of the namesake of the university.”
She had also been spending a lot of time at the Carnegie Museum and Galleries.

“I have always been local to Dunfermline and all of that came into my mind, and it’d be nice to do something on local history.” She added.
Filming the documentary presented her with “a couple of technical issues” due to the changeable autumn and winter weather, but there are talks of the documentary being screened at the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum.
Amber told the Press that she had made only one other short film: “I had done another short film previously in first year at university, but that had been it, and it had been a fictional story we had done."
Saint Margaret had an important impact on the city, establishing ferries at Queensferry to assist pilgrims travelling to Fife, and she did a lot of charitable work, and was devoted to her religion.
Amber added: “We grew quite fond of Margaret through learning about her.”
