POLICE in Fife are appealing for witnesses following a series of thefts of wheelie bins in the South West Fife area between January 18 and yesterday (Thursday).
The incidents have happened in Oakley, High Valleyfield, Kincardine, Culross and Rosyth with many of the bins being set alight after being stolen.
Constable Angela Dryburgh, of Dalgety Bay Police Station, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who has information that can help us to trace those responsible for this reckless behaviour.
“We suspect local youths may be responsible and we would urge parents to make sure they know the whereabouts of their children.
“We’d also urge homeowners and business owners to be aware of this and take precautions to secure their wheelie bins whenever possible.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact officers on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
