DALGETY Bay judoka Kirsty Marsh anchored the Scottish Cadet team to the final of the Sportif International Teams Judo Tournament in Edinburgh last week.
Six under-18 teams, including England, France, Canada and a world all stars team, each fielded a male and female light middleweight, middleweight and light heavyweight athlete in their six-strong line-up at Meadowbank.
Marsh was first onto the mat in each fixture but the Inverkeithing High School pupil coped well with the pressure.
She got the Scots off to a flying start in every fixture.
The 15-year-old overcame an opponent from the All Stars, before a fine win over the Canadian Cadet under 48kg champion in the second round as Scotland reached the semis.
She then won her semi-final match against England’s Darcie Hancocks, Scotland eventually beating their rivals 4-2.
In the final she dramatically beat the French team’s Laura Charlet, throwing her opponent for a wazari two seconds before the buzzer. France, however, won 4-2 overall to take the title.
