DUNFERMLINE ATHLETIC Ladies have moved into third place after reaching seventh heaven thanks to another big SWFL (Scottish Women's Football League) East victory.
Charles Dignan's team travelled to Edinburgh University Thistle on Sunday having scored an incredible 11 goals against Murieston United the previous week - and added seven more without reply.
In another impressive success, Alex Davie netted a first half hat-trick, which was added to by Ellis Yeaman before half-time, to put the Pars firmly in control in the capital.
Davie added her fourth, and Athletic's fifth, in the second half before Mia Hutcheson and Taylor Shields completed the scoring.
With two games to go, Dunfermline are third with 31 points, two clear of fourth-placed Edinburgh South, who have played two games fewer.
This weekend, they are due to host Musselburgh Windsor, and will go into that game having agreed deals with several more players to remain at the club next season.
Emily McGurnaghan, Lauryn Dow, Summer Garrity, Hannah Colyer, Shannon Kennedy, Olivia Young, Taylor Shields, Tyler Sibbons and Kira Sutter have all committed to the Pars for next season.
They have joined captain Jude Shepherd, vice-captain Alex Davie, Jodie Simpson, Ellis Yeaman, Jodie Barclay, Carolanne Phee and Emily Wyse in extending their stay with the team, who were praised recently for their work by assistant manager, Gregg McSwiggan, following the coaching team's arrival during the season.
He recently told Press Sport: "It's difficult for ourselves coming in to a new team, but it's also difficult for the girls and ladies as well to adapt to new faces, new ways of thinking and new styles of play.
"It's been a learning curve for everybody and it's been really good to know that the girls are behind us all on the journey we're on because it all impacts on us being together and working together."
The club are on the lookout for new players for next season, with training taking place at Pitreavie on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with matches played on a Sunday.
