THE last 11-plusers to go to Dunfermline High School before it became a comprehensive are to hold a reunion in November and already several of their former teachers are getting involved.

It all started about 16 months ago when four former pupils met up for the first time in about 35 years at the Hideaway Restaurant in Halbeath.

Isobel Robson (nee Cousin), Pamela Barton (nee Graham), Elizabeth Mathieson (nee Raeburn) and Adrienne Borrows (nee Lamb), got together in March 2012 and Adrienne said, "Numbers grew over 2012 and by the beginning of 2013 we started having the lunches at the Garvock House Hotel with numbers growing from the original four to 14 at our last get-together on 29th May.

Those who were at the most recent gathering had travelled from London, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Stirling, Edinburgh and other parts of Fife. It's approaching 40 years since most left in sixth year in 1973 and now the 40-year reunion is scheduled for Saturday 2nd November.

Said Adrienne, "We would like to contact as many former pupils as possible from our year group, those who started at DHS in first year in 1967/68 through to sixth year in 1972/73, including pupils that joined our year group from Woodmill etc. "We would also like to contact former teachers from our era.

"We are hoping that as many as can will come along to what it likely to be a 'once-in-a-lifetime' event for us all.

"We have managed to contact a number of our old teachers including Ivor Curran, Jim Love, Greig Chisholm, John Taylor and Douglas Osler." Adrienne added that current Dunfermline High rector Brian Blanchflower, himself a former pupil who was just one year below the 11-plusers, had been very helpful and had agreed to organise the new school to be open from 1.30-4pm on 2nd November for the group to assemble and have a look around.
