THE GHOST Club returns to Dunfermline’s Alhambra Theatre tomorrow (Friday) to carry out further investigations of supernatural spirits after reports of recent sightings.

Ahead of the theatre’s showing of Woman in Black at the end of this month, Alhambra staff want to find out if they have their very own resident ghost.

Derek Green, of The Ghost Club, said, “The Ghost Club carried out two previous investigations between 2008 and 2009 and it was during these that the investigators witnessed a sighting of the Alhambra’s own Woman in Black. The Club is hoping to gather more evidence of this sinister figure.” A Ghost Club report of an investigation carried out on 30th August 2008 at the theatre highlights that the Alhambra has been home to a number of sightings of a woman in a period costume with what would appear to be a veil or hood covering her face.

Other alleged activity includes footsteps heard on the stairs and the figure of a man witnessed in the upper section of the theatre.

Summing up his report in 2008 Mr Green wrote, “I think the Alhambra investigation team would all agree in saying that there is something strange about the theatre. I must stress though, that although the actress/singer appears in black clothing she is not a sinister energy. She is, in fact, peaceful. It has been said by previous staff that she only makes an appearance when work is being carried out in the theatre. Again, this can be corroborated with previous eyewitness accounts as the theatre at present is going through preservation and conservation.” The investigation is a closed research project and is not open to the public.
