FIFE Council has held its hands up and admitted that their contractor got the new road markings on Nethertown Broad Street wrong.
Drivers in Dunfermline have been complaining about the repainting job after a mix-up led to confusion for motorists heading towards the roundabout under the bridge. On the approach to the crossing, two lanes immediately branch out into three, leaving cars weaving between them as there is no designation for which side should filter into the middle lane.
Phil Clarke, lead professional for traffic management in South Fife, confirmed that the council had received enquiries about the road markings on Nethertown Broad Street, outside New City House.
He said: “Unfortunately after the roundabout was resurfaced the lining contractor made an error when repainting the road markings. We’ve brought this mistake to their attention and the correct markings will be restored to the road as soon as possible.
“It’s worth noting that, whilst incorrect, the road is still clearly marked and drivers should follow what’s in place.”
