DOG owners have been warned to keep their animals under control after a nine-year-old was chased and bitten in Crossgates.
The child suffered minor injuries after being bitten on Tuesday, April 19 and the dog owner, an 83-year-old man, was traced by police and has been reported to the procurator fiscal.
Sergeant Kenny Bow, from the Cowdenbeath community investigation unit, said the incident demonstrated the importance of making sure a dog is under control and suitably looked after at all times.
"Thankfully the dog attack in Crossgates didn’t result in more serious injury," he added.
“It is the responsibility of dog owners and those responsible for supervising dogs to maintain control or face the very serious repercussions should their animal be involved in an incident that puts the public at risk.”
He added that people responsible for dogs have been urged to ensure their animals were always appropriately supervised and restrained.
