PLANS to breath new life into Inverkeithing have been given a funding boost of over £1.2m.
Inverkeithing Heritage Regeneration is one of five Scottish projects to receive a share in £3.5m from the National Lottery Heritage fund.
The cash – a total of £1,255,900 – will help bring a new lease of life to the medieval town centre.
Historic buildings will be restored and repaired while public spaces will be rejuvenated encouraging businesses and visitors to the area.
The cornerstone to the project will be the restoration of the A-listed Georgian Town House into a much-needed hub for community use.
Commenting on the awards, Riona McMorrow, Acting Head of The National Lottery Heritage Fund, said: “Making more decisions on funding in Scotland means we can focus on the heritage that really matters to people, creating jobs, bringing economic prosperity and improving people’s lives right across the country.
“The awards we’ve made today not only demonstrate how incredibly diverse our heritage is, they celebrate the thousands of volunteers who commit their time to making sure our country’s past is kept safe for future generations.”
