A DUNFERMLINE man who was the "the voice of East End Park" for more than 15 years has died.
Bob Johnston passed away on Sunday at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 88.
An architect by trade, he took up the role of matchday announcer in the late 1970s and continued to keep Pars fans updated until the mid-1990s.
Daughter Alison explained: "He would broadcast from his Radio Pars box on matchdays, reading out the team sheets, announcing the substitutes and playing his records before each game.
"He always enjoyed playing Jimmy Shand’s Bluebell Polka after every game. The Bluebell Polka will be played at his funeral."
A massive Dunfermline fan, Bob went to his first game at the age of eight with his father.
"After that he was hooked!" added Alison. "It was a dream come true for him to work at East End and after he retired he was a dedicated attendee at every home game. He died on the Sunday but he was pleased to find out the day before that the Pars had won 4-0 against East Kilbride."
Bob is survived by his daughters, Alison and Shona, as well as two grand-daughters and a great-grand-daughter. His funeral service will take place at Dunfermline Crematorium next Thursday (August 8) at 11.30am.
