Local businesses and groups are at the heart of a thriving community, and a diverse range of businesses and community groups is a good indication of the strength of community which can be found within a village, town, or region. By supporting local enterprises, you are supporting friends, family, and neighbours. We believe that the following people play an important part in making this a community worth living in.

Vilana Natural Beauty

A Dunfermline businesswoman has grown her natural beauty products business in just a few short years, in which she started off by making natural creams for her family and friends. Vilana Natural Beauty now has customers from across the globe.

Vilana Natural Beauty was born from Vilana Bagdone’s desire to create natural beauty products for herself after trying various other products that were not suitable for her needs. In 2009 Vilana qualified as a cosmetologist and in 2012 she was inspired to create her own product. Word rapidly spread amongst family and friends with various skin complaints and using her knowledge and training Vilana created products to suit, all of which were a great success. This eventually led to wider circles trying the products and in 2017 Vilana Natural Beauty was formed.

Over the last three years Vilana has built her company, which has grown from a home based business into having its own premises in Dunfermline, where she employs an amazing team. Vilana Natural Beauty produces a wide variety of natural beauty products for hair care, skin care, body care and aromatherapy, all of which come from recipes that Vilana herself creates. These products are all safety tested in independent laboratories and are available to purchase online.

“We have a lot of customers from around the world, we are very proud of what we have achieved in such a short space of time.”

Customers now have the opportunity to learn some of Vilana’s knowledge with the recently launched Vilana’s Academy which is available to anyone who wants to learn about nature's goodness. On top of all of their success, two of their products were shortlisted for the Free From Skincare Awards this year and in 2019 they were nominated for a Fife Business Award.

The business proudly supports nature and has an ongoing project to help to protect the planet, each week a different product is selected where £1 from every sale of that product will go towards their goal of planting 500 trees. Vilana Natural Beauty will only use recyclable materials for their packaging, encouraging their customers to recycle also.

Vilana Natural Beauty are ready to launch a direct selling business called @Home with Vilana where Consultants will be selling the brand through social media and eventually through parties and events. “A lot of our customers have asked how they can join our journey of saving the planet and giving back to nature and this opportunity is the perfect chance for them to do that, it is a very exciting time for us.”

Glencraig Gospel Hall

Glencraig together with its larger neighbours, the villages of Crosshill, Lochore and Ballingry, form a community now known as the Benarty Area. The name is taken from the hill of the same name that dominates the skyline to the immediate north of the village. To the south lies the small town of Lochgelly and to the West, situated on a reclaimed coal mining area, is the popular Lochore Meadows Country Park. The population is estimated at somewhat over 5,000 residents.

We are an independent fellowship of Christians who have been meeting in the Benarty area for nearly 100 years. Our goal is to share the good news of the gospel and the love which God shows towards all people.

Taylor Sullivan Funeral Directors

Taylor Sullivan Funeral Directors have been established since 1994. Owned by Lawrie Sullivan, we provide a relaxed informal environment, letting visitors discuss their needs or ask any questions. The family areas in the parlour are designed as homely sitting rooms with three-piece suites, sideboards and occasional tables.

So many families tell us it is totally different to what they expected, much more relaxed and comforting.

Lawrie’s background has always been caring for others, he was a qualified nurse before working with a previous funeral company for 3-4 years. He decided that the work he had put into that should not go to waste so chose to continue working in the funeral business, starting up on his own.

“There was and still is a need for a company like ours,” said Lawrie. “One which goes that extra mile.”
