A 74-year-old woman has died after a serious road crash in Cairneyhill on Monday.
The female passenger had been rushed to hospital after the car she was travelling in left the road and collided with a tree.
The male driver, also 74, remains in a "serious" condition at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
Police Scotland had issued an appeal for witnesses after the incident which took place at around 1.50pm.
They say the man had been driving a red Vauxhall Corsa on the A994 at the roundabout junction with the A985 when it appeared that the vehicle lost control, came off the roadway and struck a tree.
Sergeant Colin Morrison from the Road Policing Unit based at Glenrothes said: “Our investigation to establish the cause of this road crash is continuing.
“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash take place, or anyone who was driving on this road around the time of the crash who has dash-cam footage to please contact us.”
