WORKS will get under way on Monday to create a new £600,000 footpath and cycleway between Crossgates and Fordell Firs.
Fife Council said the project, along the side of the B981 road that connects the village to Inverkeithing, is scheduled to be completed in just over 10 weeks.
There are likely to be traffic delays as the work is carried out.
Mark Dewar, roads service manager, confirmed: Work will begin on January 18 to create a new 3km path along the B981 linking Crossgates with Fordell Firs.
“The new path will extend the existing route between Dalgety Bay and Fordell Firs and will help walkers and cyclists to link into quieter rural roads as well as connecting to core paths.
“The project will be completed by Newlay Civil Engineering Ltd and will cost £600,000. Weather permitting, it will be open by March 31.”
