PLANS to open up a new Men’s Shed in Fife have been revealed.
In Fife, there are a number of branches of the initiative, which gives men who could feel isolated somewhere they can go to get support and take part in activities, however, the nearest one to Dunfermline is currently located in South Queensferry.
Now, six locals want to bring one closer to home to help West Fife men.
While they’re still in the initial stages of planning, they want to hear from anyone who would be interested in coming along and joining in.
Community development officer for Age Scotland, Tim Green, is working hard with the group and says he’s “had dozens of enquiries about whether there’s a Men’s Shed in Dunfermline” as, following two national lockdowns, a supportive and safe space for men in the community to go each week and work with like-minded individuals who they can bond and form a connection with is needed.
They are hoping to find a permanent location for the group soon and will be holding open meetings in the coming months in order to determine interest from the community and to find out what kind of activities men in the Dunfermline area would want to try.
Tim said: “Come together for a blether and a coffee and to work shoulder to shoulder in making the Dunfermline Men’s Shed a reality.”
The group have set up a Facebook page for the Dunfermline Men’s Shed and will be holding Zoom sessions soon.
