A WEST FIFE woman who was expected to live only for two days when she was born has celebrated her 100th birthday.

Katie Glover reached the milestone on September 14, a century after being born weighing just two pounds.

Katie was born and raised in Crossgates where her father worked as a miner and her mother ran a laundry from their home.

She was a miracle baby, born prematurely, and wasn’t expected to live more than a couple of days.

She was the eldest of three sisters and met her future husband, Eric, when she was working in an ammunition factory.

There was a year and a day between their ages but he died aged 92.

Eric spent 22 years in the Royal Navy and the couple went on to have five children.

Today she is a great-, great-granny with four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Katie, who lives in Fernlea House Care Home in Cardenden, thoroughly enjoyed her birthday celebrations with family members around her and was presented with the card from Her Majesty the Queen from Vice Lord-Lieutenant Fiona Robertson.

She was also visited by Councillor Mary Lockhart who presented her with flowers on behalf of Fife Council.
