Kelty Children’s Gala are trying to raise £20,000 to enable them to run the event next year and they’ve been given a boost thanks to two generous donations.
Committee members were delighted with the cash from the Kelty Community Council and the Connor Law Trust which will help them put on the annual celebration in June.
Chairperson Debbie Armstrong said: “Two different donations were made – one was from the Connor Law Trust of £1,000 and there was a donation of £2,000 from the Kelty Community Council (pictured above) as well so a big thank you to them.
“All the galas are struggling because of the pandemic. We have a new committee starting off this year. We have just taken over and we are kick-starting the fundraising.”
Additional support and committee members are still being sought to help bring in new ideas and lighten the workload of existing volunteers.
Debbie added: “We are looking for people to come along to the meetings to provide us with fundraising ideas and to help out because we are a really small committee and the more people that can come along and give us ideas and get behind us and support us, the better for the gala.”
A Hallowe’en fundraiser for the Gala will take place tonight (Friday) evening in the Kelty Club.
Organised by the Kelty Wish Foundation, tickets for the event – which includes a best Hallowe’en costume contest – are £5 can be bought on the door, from the gala committee or from the Kelty Club.
