Omicron cases in Fife have risen by a staggering 650 per cent in the past 24 hours.
There's now been a total of 15 cases of the new variant in the Kingdom since records began on November 30.
Yesterday there had been two cases identified so far but that has leaped by 13 today (Wednesday).
The first Omicron case found in Fife was on December 6.
Nicola Sturgeon said Omicron cases are “increasing exponentially – faster than any variant that has gone before it”, when addressing the Scottish Parliament yesterday.
She warned that cases could be doubling every 24 hours but in Fife that has been even more pronounced in the past day.
Across Scotland, there has now been a total of 566 cases of the variant - rising by 265 cases in a day.
The number of coronavirus cases in Fife has risen by 341 in total in the last 24 hours.
The total number of cases is now 51,091.
