A DRUG ADDICT went on a bike-stealing spree in Dunfermline.
The seven bikes stolen by Callum Welsh were worth more than £5,000, Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard.
Callum Welsh, 31, of Burns Street, Dunfermline, appeared in court via video-link from jail, having admitted a catalogue of thefts.
On October 16, at Pittencrieff Street, he stole a woman’s bike valued at £300.
On November 1, also in Pittencrieff Street, he stole a bike belonging to another woman. The value was £380.
On November 19, at Pilmuir Place, he stole three bikes belonging to different people. These were valued at £240, £300 and £500.
On November 20, at Urquhart Crescent, he stole an electric bike, valued at £700.
The same day, at Schmooz, Kingsgate Centre, he stole a jacket worth £155.
Then on November 23, at High Beveridgewell, he stole a bicycle, valued at £3,000.
Only one of the bikes has been recovered so far.
Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison said the thefts had been committed to feed his client’s drug habit, as he was addicted to heroin and crack cocaine.
“Various disposals across the full spectrum have been tried with him in the past with little success,” he conceded.
Sheriff Wylie Robertson jailed Welsh for 12 months.
