The year 2021 has had no shortage of news and Dunfermline is no exception.
With 2022 just around the corner, we thought we would take a look back at some of our biggest stories of the year.
From the first meeting of HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Queen Elizabeth at sea and the Persimmon Homes development, there is not much that we haven't seen in 2021.

7. Rosyth: HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Queen Elizabeth meet for first time at sea
AN HISTORIC moment took place as two Rosyth-built aircraft carriers met at sea for the first time.
HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Queen Elizabeth were snapped side-by-side after a UK-led multi-national military exercise.
Twenty warships, three submarines and 150 aircraft took part in the exercise to test the UK Carrier Strike Group’s response to a range of crisis and conflict situations.
6. Dunfermline: Five-bedroom house near Townhill Loch listed by Zoopla with Savills agents
A STUNNING Victorian villa in Dunfermline is up for sale for offers over £595,000.
Lothian View is within walking distance of Townhill Loch and is a five-bedroom detached home that dates back to around 1890.

5. Nicola Sturgeon: First Minister to 'thank' for Dalgety Bay bus stop vandalism, claims Facebook user
NICOLA Sturgeon is to 'thank' for an act of vandalism in West Fife, according to one Facebook user.
An image surfaced online over the weekend of a vandalised Dalgety Bay bus stop with its glass panels smashed to pieces.
The anti-social behaviour, understood to have taken place on Saturday night, caused mass disappoint from the local community with the pieces of glass left on the road and pavement.
4. Fife Council says safety a priority after child, 7, left to walk home alone
FIFE COUNCIL’S education chief has said safety and security of children is a “top priority” after a seven-year-old at a Dunfermline school was left to walk home alone.
The youngster had been due to attend the after-school facility at Masterton Primary but was let out of the school building and, after not spotting her parents, who were not there becaue it was a day where she was transferring to the after-school club, presumed she had to make her own way home for the first time.
The alarm was raised when another parent spotted the child and returned her to the school.
3. Dunfermline: Residents at Persimmon Homes development hit out at housing developer
ANGRY residents in Dunfermline have hit out at Persimmon Homes as a catalogue of problems have put a dampener on their new properties.
Homeowners at the Woodlea Park development, near Queen Anne High School, contacted the Press this week after growing "fed-up" and feeling "let down" by the housing developer after the issues that have plagued their stay since moving in.
One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, paid £230,000 for their new-build home and, on Monday, submitted a list of problems to the Press that they have faced since their move in July last year.
2. Culross share offer as village bids to buy Red Lion Inn
CULROSS is banking on the global pulling power of Outlander and celebrity endorsements in a "last stand" to save the village pub.
The ancient royal burgh was used as a set for the hit TV series and it's hoped that fans – and the stars and film crews who shot there – will help fund the community purchase of the Red Lion Inn.
Current owners David Alexander and Ann Dowds are retiring and villagers aim to raise the cash needed to buy it with a share offer launching on Wednesday.
1. Military exercise to feature in Forth with USA, Germany, France taking part
THE Forth is set to host elements of a major UK-led multinational exercise next week when Exercise Strike Warrior gets underway.
One of the largest military exercises of its kind in Europe, Strike Warrior 21 which incorporates Exercise Joint Warrior 21-1, will run from May 8 to 20 with a few of the participating vessels departing from ports on the East Coast of Scotland.
For this exercise, port visits will be kept to a minimum, however vessels are expected to arrive at Rosyth and Leith before joining the exercise.
