A CAIRNEYHILL resident has accused a construction firm of failing "on so many levels" over the finishing touches to a housing development in the village.
The householder, who wanted to remain anonymous, said promised landscaping had not been carried out with missing hedges and grass – as well as broken steps – at Avant Homes' Pitdinnie Grange site.
The Press has reported concerns over the development in the past with residents highlighting issues including a playpark described by one villager as a "wasteland" remaining unfinished, walkways having nails protruding from them and the substation located at the park being an "eyesore".
The ongoing situation promoted a group of Pitdinnie Grange residents to submit a formal complaint to Avant Homes, accusing them of falling short on their promise to provide a ‘Good Better Different’ home and breaching the Consumer Code for Home Builders.
The resident this week told the Press that Avant had not acknowledged his latest concerns.
"I managed to gain access to drawings from the Fife Council (planning) portal and there are scores of issues, such as hundreds of metres of missing hedge, huge areas of missing grass, there is clear detail on soil quality specifying how it should be prepared, detail on areas of wild flowers to improve biodiversity etc but Avant has failed on so many levels," he said.
"Cairneyhill is a beautiful village and the new addition should be to the standard expected by new and long-lasting residents."
The householder said newly-built steps already had large nails exposed while he said there was also a "vast number of stones, boulders and building waste" which should be removed from the grounds as set out in the previously-agreed landscaping plan.
An Avant Homes Scotland spokesperson said landscaping works at Pitdinnie Grange were ongoing.
The spokesperson added: "These are being carried out in accordance with the approved landscaping details outlined in the planning permission granted by Fife Council.
“We have commenced operations in regard to soiling works to prepare the area for seeding season. We would like to reassure residents that weather permitting, works will continue in the coming weeks and will be completed to the satisfaction of residents and the local authority.”
