Resurfacing works are set to begin on the M90 from tomorrow.

Improvements to the Junction 3 northbound on-slip of the Halbeath interchange will begin tomorrow (Friday) evening and last throughout the weekend.

This will involve a 24-hour closure of the northbound on-slip from 7.30pm as well as a nearside lane closure on the M90 northbound carriageway.

The outer ring of the Halbeath Roundabout will also be closed.

All works are expected to be completed by Monday at 6am.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: "This £185,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen junction three on the northbound on-slip of the M90, creating a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

"The traffic management that we have programmed is essential for ensuring the safety of motorists and road users. Regrettably there will be some disruption to traffic due to the traffic management requiring to remain in place continuously, however teams will work as quicky and safely as possible to complete the works.

"We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the M90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination."
