DUNFERMLINE shoppers will be able to pick up £5 bargains later this month as a part of a new scheme.

Totally Locally, a grassroots organisation that has been helping businesses and High Streets to help themselves since 2010, is bringing the Fiver Fest to Dunfermline for the first time.

Shoppers will be able to pick up £5 bargains from participating independent shops and businesses from March 12 to March 26.

Aileen Wright, of Sew Yarn Crafty, and Heather Snowie, from Fancy A Scoop, are helping to bring the event to the town, and hope to make it a regular occurrence.

They said: "It is now a big part of our promotions for Dunfermline.

"The independent shops and businesses are what makes our town special and unique.

"The community support for local businesses has been amazing during lockdown but it is easy to slip back into old shopping habits now that things are returning to normal.

"So this is a little nudge to say, our local businesses are still here, we are still serving our community and we appreciate your support. And, of course, we are great value!"

Participating business include 269 Vegan, where all bagels will be £5, The Wee Tea Company, where you can grab 30 biodegradable tea bags for £5, and Sew Yarn Crafty, where special fabric bundles will be priced at a fiver.

The festival is based on the message: "If every adult in Dunfermline spent just £5 per week in their local independent shops and businesses, it would mean an extra £10.4 million per year going directly into our local economy, which can lead to more jobs, a better High Street, a stronger economy and a nicer place to live."

Simon Waldren, of Totally Locally, said: "We’ve seen huge increases in footfall during Fiver Fest times, with many businesses reporting their best shopping days outside of Christmas."

Other businesses who will be involved in the scheme are:

Little Shop of Heroes, where comic fans can get 10 £1 back issues for only £5; Kingdom Kilts, who are taking £5 off every adult hire kilt,; Cara Shanley Art, who will have pairs of Sketching Fife coasters for £5; Zilda Therapies, who are offering £5 off all treatments; Juniper Wine Cafe, where you can get a bacon or links ciabatta with tea or coffee for a fiver; The Garden Townhouse, will offer £5 off any booking made during the festival; Fancy a Scoop, who will have ice cream cooler bags for £5; Clarabella Christie Studio, who are offering handmade silk scrunchies for only £5; The Commercial Inn, where you can try any burger for only £5; Into the Woods Floristry, where spring bulb pots will be on offer for £5; Hand Poured by Jules, where a sample box will be £5; Ace Alterations, who will take £5 off your bill when you spend £25; Kinapiary, where limited edition Honey & Beeswax natural soap will be £5; The Caledonian Craft Beer Merchant, who will have A3 bespoke art prints for a fiver; A Quarter of Sweetalicious, where a gift bag with two quarters of sweets will be £5; EnableNet, who are offering a first month for £5 to 50 customers; Cafe Wynd, where you can enjoy a sandwich with a coffee for £5; Kockraco are offering a takeaway chargrilled half chicken for £5; Amorist Bar & Bistro, where you can get £5 off when you spend £25, and Bryan Beveridge Quality Butchers, who are offering four award-winning steak burgers for £5.
