A new steam train named ‘Big Dave’ has been unveiled at Lathalmond Railway Museum.
Shed47 Railway Restoration Group said the new narrow gauge locomotive will be ready to pull passengers every Sunday in April.
It will be the first time since 1967 that there will be regular steam train operation in the Dunfermline area.
That same year marked the end of local steam operation by British Railways and the closure of the steam locomotive shed behind Appin Crescent.
From donations made and volunteer work, Shed47 have revealed that they have been working on other projects, including the restoration of a new No.29 steam locomotive, a new museum display area and revamped station shop.
Big Dave will be steaming along every Sunday in April and then pulling passengers every second Sunday after that, alternating with their heritage diesel fleet.
Lathalmond Railway Museum, within the grounds of the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum, opens this Sunday and will be open every Sunday from 12:30pm to 4pm.
