FIFE schools are looking to return to "somewhere near normal" after the spring holidays.
Carrie Lindsay, the council's head of education, confirmed that schools will now follow similar guidance to the wider community.
This means that pupils and staff will no longer need to take bi-weekly COVID tests, and secondary pupils will not be expected to wear face-coverings in classrooms.
Students and staff will still continue to wear masks in communal areas or when moving between classrooms.
Ms Lindsay confirmed that parents and visitors would be able to return to schools.
"I am looking forward to our children enjoying all the things they may have missed for the last two years," she said "and being able to welcome our parents and carers back to assemblies, concerts and community events."
Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 should remain at home and take a PCR test, those who test positive still have to isolate for up to 10 days.
In her letter, Ms Lindsay also warned: "Any or all of the above advice may change before we return to school on 18 April, so look out for public updates from the Scottish Government.
"If you have any specific questions, your child’s headteacher will be best placed to answer these, so please contact your own school in the first instance."
