AS THE outdoor season dawns, Dunfermline Track and Field Club have showcased a glittering roll of honour of those who starred in indoor competition in 2022.
Talented athletes with the club collected a number of medals at national events, including the Scottish Athletics Indoor League Championships, as well as several participants in its Trackstarz run, jump and throw section who made the transition to the senior category, picking up national gongs along the way.
At the 4J Studios Scottish Athletics National Indoor Senior / Under-17 Championships, Matthew Tait and Callum Newton – who also won 60 metres hurdles bronze – collected high jump gold and silver, while Darcie Black – who was feted in the Young Sports Personality of the Year category in the 2021 Dunfermline and West Fife Sports Council Sports Awards – won silver medals in both the 60m hurdles and long jump, as well as at the under-17 National Combined Events Championships.
Ellie Candlish, in the high jump, and Shayna Asamoah, in the 60m, were recipients of silver and bronze medals respectively, while they both teamed up with Darcie Black and Kirstin Penman to win bronze at the under-17 National Indoor Relay Championships.
That quartet were also under-17 Scottish Athletics Indoor League girls' team gold medal winners, and relay team silver-medallists, while Callum Newton, David Cuthbert, Oliver Morrison and Brook Ferguson were boys' team bronze medal winners.
Sophie Thomas, in the 60m, won an under-15 national championship silver medal, while Charlie Hunter, in the under-13 age group, won high jump gold, 60m hurdles silver, and National Combined Events Championships silver.
With Finlay Gaughan, Lucas Alexander and Luke Hamilton, he also picked up an under-13 Scottish Athletics Indoor League boys' relay team silver, and collected boys' team bronze with Finlay, Lucas and Gregor Fraser.
Lottie Thomas, Sophie Jenkinson, Murron Kane and Abbey McAndrew won under-12 Scottish Athletics Indoor 'Superteams' bronze, while Sean Asamoah, Sophie Jenkinson, Lochlan Walker and Lottie Thomas won gold in the kids' event at the DNA (Dynamic New Athletics) meet at Glasgow's Emirates Arena.
A club spokesperson added: "The club had a photoshoot to signify the end of the season with most of the athletes who competed over the season for the club or in national championships looking their best.
"The club presented a framed copy of the photo to their sponsor, Orica UK Limited, who have supported the club now for three years. We look forward to continuing our successful partnership with Orica in the future.
"Congratulations to all our athletes at the club for your endeavours over the winter season, and let's do it all again at the outdoor season."
