DUNIMARLE CASTLE in Culross has been given the go-ahead for an orangery cafe with views of the Forth.
The new cafe is just one facet of a bigger plan to invest in the site, which was refurbished fully in 2010 and features lovely gardens and a chapel.
Events are held at the venue regularly and it is hoped with the continued developments that the castle will continue to be an asset to tourism in Culross.
The biggest development for the castle is the new cafe, which requires no adjustments to the castle itself. Only a temporary ramp will be added to the site to provide access for those who need it.
With the addition of the cafe, visitors will have a chance to soak up the sun in the orangery or take their food to go as they look around the gardens. On offer will be hot and cold drinks and sandwiches, soups and cakes.
Recruitment is now under way for a full-time manager to run the seasonable cafe.
George Flemming, estate manager for Dunimarle Castle, worked with Business Gateway Fife to achieve the upgrades and said: “The excellent support and advice given to me by Business Gateway Fife has enabled us to progress with the developments of the estate to create a historic visitor attraction that enhances the offering of Culross village as well as bringing the castle and gardens back to life.”
