SPEED bumps are set to be introduced in Pitcorthie to slow down speeding drivers.
Fife Council plans to install the measures in Birrell Drive and Pitcorthie Drive after residents raised safety concerns over the pace cars come along the roads.
Four speed cushions, or road humps, will be put in Birrell Drive while a 'raised table' calming measure will be installed in Pitcorthie Drive as well as a speed cushion.
The proposed humps will replace the current give/take build-outs which are ageing and in need of repair. Their removal could also result in more on-street parking.
Local councillor James Calder said the measures came after "substantial speed issues" in the area.
"Previous traffic-calming measures didn't seem to adequately deal with the issue," he said. "When we discussed the area's roads programme earlier in the year, transportation had proposed changing it so there were road humps instead.
"I have had a number of people get in touch with me over the years about speeding on the roads. It is an issue the council has recognised as a problem."
Having given notice of the proposals, anyone with any objections is asked to contact Traffic Management, Roads & Transportation Service, Bankhead Central, Bankhead Park, Glenrothes, Fife KY7 6GH or email traffic.management@fife.gov.uk by August 11.
