DUNFERMLINE'S MP is calling on the public to vote for the Glen in the competition to find the UK's Favourite Park.
Douglas Chapman reckons our dear green place is one of the best and wants locals to back Pittencrieff Park in the nationwide poll.
He said: "The Glen has acted as a sanctuary for so many of us over the past few years and the UK's Favourite Parks award celebrates the contributions these spaces deliver for our neighbourhoods and communities.
"The Glen is famous for being the home of our city's famous peacocks but it's also great for the fabulous play area for kids of all ages and abilities, the wide open spaces and paths for cyclists and walkers alike and for the vast array of wildlife, tress and plants.
"It's also the home to the Dunfermline Parkrun.
"We are so lucky to have Pittencrieff Park on our doorstep and now you can vote to have the Glen become the UK's favourite park.
"Please cast your vote today!"
The competition has been organised by green space charity Fields in Trust, and Pittencrieff Park is among 364 parks and green spaces in the running to be awarded UK’s Favourite Park 2022.
It was voted the finest park in Scotland in 2019.
Fields in Trust chief executive Helen Griffiths said: “Our nation’s parks have been so important during the pandemic and it is vital that we celebrate them to help ensure they are protected for future generations.
"Our children and grandchildren deserve to have the same access to green space that we do, this is a significant moment to change the way we think about the contribution local green spaces make to our health, our wellbeing, our environment and, ultimately, our futures.”
Voting is now open at www.fieldsintrust.org/favourite-parks and will close at noon on Thursday, August 18.
The parks with the most votes in each of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will be named national favourites and the overall winner will take the title of the UK's Favourite Park 2022.
