GET ready for combat as a new war-gaming hobby store opens in Dunfermline.
Accent Gaming are bringing the battlefield to 23 Guildhall Street, offering all the supplies you could need for your favourite strategy game and a place to meet up with your friends to get stuck in.
Douglas Colville had his grand opening last Saturday and said: "It went really well, there was a lot of local buy-in. We had about 200 people in on Saturday so it was well supported and I was quite chuffed!
"We're just a new shop, we've been open officially for three days. Talk to me in three months!"
War games involve building and painting your own figures and boards before rolling your dice to decide the outcome of the fight. Warhammer, one of the most popular table-top war games on the market, is even played by Superman star Henry Cavill.
He continued: "I started it as a hobby shop as such but more for the war-gaming side of the hobby. Where people can buy their models, paint them and play games, there wasn't anything like it in Dunfermline.
"I thought, we can do with somewhere that provides tables where people can just come and play all the way through the week. That was what was behind it, get models, play games and build a little bit of a community."
Douglas enjoys the building and painting aspects of the games the most but will be learning everything he can so he can successfully referee the games that will be hosted in his shop. The store itself will be open from midday until late while operating hours are ironed out and gamers can rent out table-top battlefields to give them a place to game in peace.
He added: "Just come and have a look, it's a very inviting and welcoming community and we're going to be doing demo games so anyone who doesn't know anything about it, they can just come along and have a play of the game.
"Is it for everybody? No, but it's for such a wide variance of people that it's worth a little bit of time. It can't be all that bad, Superman plays it!"
