KELTY HEARTS have bolstered their squad ahead of the weekend's fixtures by signing experienced full back Jason Thomson.

The 35-year-old, who has turned out for both Raith Rovers and the Pars during his career, has penned a one-year deal at New Central Park.

Thomson, who began his career with Heart of Midlothian, left Arbroath after four years at Gayfield, and could be in line for a debut in tomorrow's match with Falkirk.

Having spent time on loan with Livingston, Dunfermline - during their last top flight season, in 2011/12 - and Raith while with the Edinburgh club, before making a permanent move to Kirkcaldy in 2012.

In six years at Stark's Park - where he played alongside current Kelty star, Joe Cardle, and coach, Dougie Hill - Thomson captained Rovers to a Challenge Cup success, which saw them defeat Rangers in the final, in 2014.

He joined the Lichties in 2018 and, during 131 appearances for Dick Campbell's men, he won the League One title, and helped them to a stunning second-place finish in last season's Championship, where they lost out to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Premiership play-off semi-finals.

Prior to yesterday's transfer deadline, boss John Potter said that there was a possibility of movement in and out of the club, and Thomson's arrival follows the departure of midfielder, Thomas Reilly, on Wednesday evening, after he left for Darvel,
