A SHORT stretch of road near Kincardine will be closed overnight next week.
The A977 between Kilbagie Roundabout and Gartarry Roundabout will be shut from 11pm on Monday until 6.30am on Tuesday as part of an ongoing road widening project.
A diversion route will be in place via the A876, M876, M9, A91 and A907 which would add 20 miles and an extra 30 minutes onto affected journeys.
Overnight traffic lights and temporary lane closures will also be in place on the A977, from 7.30pm to 6.30am, during weeknights until December 5.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “This road widening scheme will reduce queuing and congestion around Kilbagie and Gartarry roundabouts during peak times.
“We are able to carry out most of the works using lane closures and temporary traffic lights, however we do need to close the road completely on the night of Monday October 24 in order to keep our workforce and the travelling public safe.
“We’re grateful to road users and local communities for their patience and understanding.”
All of the planned work is weather permitting and subject to postponement if there are adverse conditions. Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys ahead by using the Traffic Scotland website for up to date information.
