LEGENDARY Nazareth singer Dan McCafferty has died at the age of 76.
Posting on Nazareth's Facebook page, fellow band member Pete Agnew confirmed the sad news that his friend had died on Tuesday.
"This is the saddest announcement I ever had to make," he said. "Maryann and the family have lost a wonderful loving husband and father, I have lost my best friend and the world has lost one of the greatest singers who ever lived.
"Too upset to say any more at this time."
Dan had an amazing stage presence, which can be seen in the video of his 2014 performance of Tam the Bam at Carnegie Hall.
He can be seen making the crowd laugh before continuing what was the group's first acoustic performance.
Dunfermline-born Dan was one of the founder members of the band. He retired in 2013 after suffering health difficulties.
