MOTORISTS are being encouraged to plan ahead as overnight works are due to begin this weekend on the A977.
The road north of Kincardine will be closed in both directions on the nights of Sunday, December 11 and Monday, December 12 as they widen the northbound side on the approach to Gartarry Roundabout.
From 7:30pm to 6:30am the stretch between Kilbagie Roundabout and Gartarry Roundabout will be closed but diversion routes will be signposted on the A876, M876, M9, A91 and A907.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “When complete, this road widening scheme will reduce queuing and congestion around Kilbagie and Gartarry Roundabouts during peak times.
"We have been able to carry out most of the works using lane closures and temporary traffic lights, however we do need to close the road completely on the nights of Sunday 11 and Monday 12 December in order to keep our workforce and the travelling public safe.
“We’re grateful to road users and local communities for their patience and understanding.”
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation each weekday night until the end of December but all work is dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
