WEST FIFERS should continue to expect snow and ice this weekend according to a new warning from the Met Office.

Cold weather has already caused transport issues this morning (Friday) and the yellow warning will now remain in place until 11am tomorrow.

Earlier snowfall will freeze, leading to widespread icy conditions overnight and  likely continued travel disruption.

Injuries could become more likely due to icy stretches on many untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

Frozen snow and slush may also create very difficult conditions on some less busy roads, pavements and cycle paths

A second warning has been issued for Sunday and is expected to effect most of the country. 

Roads and railways are likely to be affected with some closures and longer journey times, while bus and train services are expected to be delayed or cancelled, especially during peak times. 

And untreated pavements and cycle paths could mean an increased likelihood of accidents and injuries.

There is also a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected. 

The warning is set to be in place between 7am and 9pm.
