ATHLETIC could be set for a cash boost as one of their former players looks set to make a move to the English Championship.
Reports are strongly linking Hibernian striker, Kevin Nisbet, with a move to Millwall before the closure of the transfer deadline - which would net the Pars some additional revenue.
The Scotland international, 25, moved to Easter Road in the summer of 2020 from KDM Group East End Park for what Dunfermline described at the time was a "mutually-agreed compensation arrangement" between the clubs.
As part of the deal, it is understood that the Pars negotiated a sell-on clause in the event of Nisbet being transferred.
Although there have been differing reports of the value of that, between 20 and 30 per cent, Press Sport understands that the percentage figure remains undisclosed.
It has been reported that, including add-ons, the Lions could pay up to £2.4million for Nisbet, who has netted seven times in as many appearances this season after returning from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) sustained in March last year.
After beginning his career with Partick Thistle, Nisbet moved to Raith Rovers in the summer of 2018 and, in one season at Stark's Park, scored 34 goals in 46 appearances.
That prompted then Pars boss, Stevie Crawford, to make a move and, after the termination of his deal with Rovers, then in League One, he signed a two-year deal to move to East End.
In a season that was cut short due to COVID-19, the striker scored a highly impressive 23 goals for Dunfermline in 32 appearances.
Those included a first professional hat-trick in a League Cup win over Albion Rovers, and a four-goal haul in a 5-1 demolition of former club Partick.
His last goal for the club came in a 2-0 win over Dundee United at East End - who, along with Hibernian, had had a six-figure bid rejected by the Pars in January 2020.
That summer, he was linked with English clubs Portsmouth and Shrewsbury Town, while United had further offers rebuffed.
Hearts - under the charge of Robbie Neilson, who had tried to lure him to Tannadice while United boss - were also suggested to have made a bid, but it was the Hibees who won the race for his signature.
During his first full campaign at Easter Road, he helped the Leith side finished third in the top flight, and reach the Scottish Cup final, scoring 19 goals.
His form also saw him included in the Scotland squad for the European Championships, where he featured in all three matches, and has gone on to win 10 caps for the national side.
Speaking about Nisbet, and a potential cash boost, Pars gaffer, James McPake, commented: "I know nothing about it.
"I'm delighted for Kevin though if that does happen. He's had a tough time with his injury, so to see him back and doing really well is great."
