A 22-YEAR-OLD Cardenden man has been sentenced after being caught drink-driving in Dunfermline when more than three times over the limit.
Ruairidh Brand, of Daisyfield Terrace, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on March 20, in Townhill Road, Dunfermline, he drove a car after consuming excess alcohol.
His reading was 237 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of urine, the limit being 67 milligrammes.
Defence solicitor Paul Donnachie said Brand knew he had been “extremely stupid” and added: “He was led on by his girlfriend at the time.”
The solicitor went on: “He realises he was very silly and that everyone with him in the car were very lucky. They were people he’d met in Dunfermline and he doesn’t know them.
“It’s his first offence and he says it will be his last offence. He and his parents are mortified that he’s got into trouble in this way.”
Sheriff Craig McSherry imposed a community payback order with 180 hours of unpaid work. Brand was also banned from driving for 18 months.
