BRIGHT pupils from Duloch Primary School have taken top honours at a Battle of the Brains competition.

Youngsters from six Dunfermline schools took part in the event organised by Carnegie Dunfermline Rotary Club at Masterton Primary School last week.

The Duloch team amassed 109 points from their answers to 60 questions and will now progress to the next level of Rotary quiz competitions.

In second place was Masterton with 105 points and in third Canmore with 104 points.

Margaret Nethery, Carnegie Rotary Club president, said: "It was great fun, and there was a terrific turnout from friends and family to support their teams.

"This is usually an annual event, but we were interrupted by the COVID pandemic, so it was great to see the schools enthusiastic to take part again. We're also very grateful to Masterton school for hosting the event after hours.

"Perhaps we'll have a bigger and brighter event next year - and perhaps sow the seeds for more young people to join us in Rotary to help us make the world a better place."

Topics included nature, mathematics, literature, the human body, history, general knowledge and science.

Contestants were drawn from P6 and P7 classes and the three other schools to take part were Bellyeoman, Carnegie and Touch.
