JOHN POTTER thought his team "controlled big parts of the game" against third placed FC Edinburgh despite conceding three points as they clashed at New Central Park.
It was too little too late when Jamie Barjonas scored on 72 minutes for the home side, with Kyle Jacob and John Robertson having already put the visitors in front.
Kelty, now placed eighth in the table, took their chances - a good save from Robbie Mutch at 22 minutes tipped Michael Tidsers' shot wide of the post, while the keeper also saved against Nathan Austin and Lewis Martin before half time.
There was a moment of controversy when Nathan Austin, who had already been booked for a collision with Lee Hamilton, grabbed the ball after he thought he'd been fouled but the referee gave an Edinburgh free kick and Austin did not receive a second yellow, despite the opposition crowding the referee calling for him to be send off.
The second half began with the score at Kelty Hearts 0-1 FC Edinburgh with the home side shortly bringing on Ross Philp for Michael Tidser and Joe Cardle for Robbie Leitch.
Cardle made an immediate impact after two minutes on the pitch with a shot at goal at close ranged but it was saved by Mutch.
FC Edinburgh saw their second goal on 68 minutes as Kyle Jacob scored at the back post with a header following a corner.
And it was Jamie Barjonas who would bring Kelty back into the match as the ball fell to him in the box after a shot from Alfredo Agyeman hit the bar.
There were two further bookings, John Potter's recent signing Kanayo Megwa was handed a yellow after a foul, as was FC Edinburgh's Kieran MacDonald for time wasting.
The home side couldn't even the score and the match ended Kelty Hearts 1-2 FC Edinburgh.
