A TRIO of Dunfermline dancers have gained top marks in their latest exams.

Louise Barton, 21, from Dunfermline, Emma MacDonald, 26, from Cairneyhill and Ellie Forrester, 24, from Dunfermline have all achieved promoted qualifications with the Scottish Dance Teachers Alliance (SDTA) after smashing their recent Highland Dancing exams.

All three students attend the Allana Brown School of Dancing and have done for the last two decades.

Their teacher, Allana Brown, told the Press: "The did an exam to further their education, they're really chuffed, especially as they all got distinctions – that's the highest mark achievable.

"I'm so proud of them, Emma's been with me for 20 years, Louise has been with me for 18 years and Ellie has been for 20, and they all still come to class.

"They've grown up with me and I've grown up with them!" She laughed.

While they have done an amazing job in passing their exam, with Louise and Ellie becoming full members and Emma becoming a Fellowship member of the SDTA, their hard work isn't done. All three girls will be continuing to dance.

Allana added: "They're going to keep on dancing. All three girls have travelled extensively around the world with their dancing, taking part in various tattoos and shows in Australia, New Zealand, China and Canada, and it's all been with their Highland Dancing.

"They've competed all their lives as well so they've had quite a full life doing the Highland Dancing!"

For now, the Allana Brown School of Dance is preparing for their Forth Bridges Festival dancing competition on April 15 at Dunfermline High School.
