THERE are plans to improve mobile phone services by erecting an 18 metres high telecommunications mast at a roundabout in Dunfermline.
An application has gone to Fife Council for the use of a grass verge on the west side of the roundabout, between Masterton Road and Aberdour Road.
CK Hutchinson Networks (UK) Ltd, of Reading, say the pole would be part of a telecommunications base station they want to site there.
It would also include three ancillary cabinets and six antennas.
A supporting statement explained: "It will deliver public benefit in terms of the mobile services it will provide."
The application to the council is to determine whether planning approval is required before work is carried out.
The proposed location has only recently seen work done by the council, to widen the footway for a shared pedestrian and cycle path.
