THE celebrations for the anniversary of a historic Aberdour church are continuing.
St Fillan’s Church in Aberdour are carrying on their 900th anniversary celebrations with ‘Sing it’ and Dysart Community Development Silver Band who will perform in the church on Saturday, April 22, at 7pm.
St Fillan’s Church dates from 1123, when Inchcolm Abbey was founded, and so it may be the oldest church in Scotland.
Sing it is a Ladies Choir and meets weekly on Thursday evenings in St Fillan’s Church Hall.
A spokesperson for Sing It said: “We started up in 2013 as a community choir. We sing mainly pop songs, but also African, Scottish and songs from musicals. Our main aim is to have fun and enjoy singing. While we don't take ourselves too seriously, we do try to be as good as we can.”
Dysart Colliery Silver Band are based in Kirkcaldy and are one of Scotland’s oldest bands having been established in 1880.
The Development Band is where any player is welcome no matter whether they have never played before or not.
Tickets are available from The Purple Shop & Willie's Newsagent, Aberdour. Tickets are free, although donations are welcome.
