DOUBLE yellow lines will be painted outside Masterton Primary School in Dunfermline after complaints of "dangerous" parking.
Exasperated residents at Tarmachan Road have been highlighting the issue for more than a year and said they'd received regular abuse from parents parking inconsiderately outside their homes.
Councillor Cara Hilton said: "As a local member dangerous parking around the entrance to Tarmachan Road, opposite the school, has been raised repeatedly with me.
"I hope the double yellow lines will also make it safer for children to walk to school.
"Personally I would like the restrictions to go further but hopefully this will make a difference."
A report to the City of Dunfermline area committee said cars were being parked on Tarmachan Road close to the roundabout with Aberdour Road and the t-junction at the top of Tarmachan Road.
Such parking was "increasing the risk" for pedestrians and school children and double yellow lines will be painted at both junctions.
Lesley Craig, from Fife Council's traffic management team, said: "We've been asked for this for quite some time outside Masterton Primary School, however we've been monitoring the situation over the last year so we can make sure we're doing it correctly."
Convener James Calder received assurances that the restrictions would be enforced, adding: "It's important that anyone who is willing to take the risk and park on the double yellow lines knows they risk a fine for doing so."
