ATHLETIC skipper Kyle Benedictus has been named as the cinch SPFL League One Player of the Season.
The 31-year-old has been recognised for his role in Dunfermline's title success, in which he played in all-but-one of their 36 matches.
Signed last summer after leaving local rivals Raith Rovers, the centre back has been a bedrock of the Pars' record-breaking campaign, helping the team to 21 clean sheets in the league, and 24 across all competitions, a club record for a single season.
Their 21 goals conceded is also a new best, as is the 10 lost at home, and 11 on the road, over the course of a league season.
At the other end, Benedictus netted seven times during the campaign, and the only match he missed was the final home game against Clyde, having been red-carded in the previous week's draw at Airdrieonians.
In addition, he and Matty Todd have been nominated for the PFA Scotland League One Player of the Year award, alongside Airdrie's Calum Gallagher and Queen of the South's Ruari Paton, and was named in the PFA Scotland League One Team of the Season.
Three more Pars stars - Todd, Deniz Mehmet and Josh Edwards - were also included.
