DUNFERMLINE'S Little Shop of Heroes has been nominated for a comic book industry "Oscar".
The owners of the Maygate store have thanked customers for shaping their business into a "destination considered one of the best in the world".
They have been nominated for a Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award, which are presented at Comic-Con International in San Diego.
The store is run by Alby Grainger, his wife Louise, and daighter Sinéad.
A statement from Little Shop of Heroes said: "Well that is a turn up for the books!
"Little Shop of Heroes has been nominated for an Eisner Spirit of Retail Award.
"The Eisner Awards are the comic book industry equivalent to the Oscars.
"Named after the legendary comic and graphic novel creator, Will Eisner, they have categories like Best Writer, Best Artist, Best Series, etc.
"Winners are announced at the San Diego Comic Convention.
"Alby, Lou & Sinéad are honoured to have received this nomination.
"Thank you for helping shape our Little Shop of Heroes into a destination considered one of the best in the world."
The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards were named in honour of pioneering writer and artist Will Eisner, one of the earliest cartoonists to work in the American comic book industry.
Criteria entrants must meet include the support of a wide variety of innovative material; knowledge of retailing and the comics fields; community activity, such as promoting comics in the community and maintaining relationships with schools and libraries; quality of store image using innovative display approaches; and adherence to standard ethical business practices.
