A drunk man, calling himself ‘The Gypsy’, phoned the police threatening to kill everybody in a house in Dalgety Bay.
The threat was made by Duncan Johnstone, 46, of Main Street, Springfield, who has now appeared in the dock Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on September 9, 2021, at Four Lums Road, Aberdour, he made a phone call to Police Scotland in which he made a threat to kill everybody within a house in Skua Drive, Dalgety Bay.
Depute fiscal Jennifer Berner said that at around 3pm the police received a phone call from Johnstone, saying he was on a bus heading to Dalgety Bay and he appeared to be upset about not being able to see his child.
He said: “I’m going to kill everyone that’s in the house. Yes, I’m going to kill everyone. My name is ‘The Gypsy’, that’s all you need to know.”
Police later found Johnstone sitting on a bench in Dalgety Bay.
Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison said: “It’s my information that he was heavily under the influence of alcohol at the time.”
He added that his client is a long-term alcoholic drinking up to four bottles of vodka a day, which had led to him being asked to move out of the family home.
“He consumes massive amounts of alcohol significantly affecting his health,” he added.
Sheriff William Gilchrist deferred sentencing until August 29 when Johnstone has other matters calling in court.
