BUDDING boxing star Niamh Mitchell was in the winning corner to pick up another title to add to her collection.
The Dunfermline High pupil was named Dunfermline Press Community Champion Awards Sporting Champion of the Year after what she describes as a "whirlwind" few years.
The talented 16-year-old from Rosyth became the first female to win gold for Scotland at a major international competition, when she won the 52kg light bantamweight title at the EUBC (European Boxing Confederation) European Junior Championships in October.
Niamh trains at Bowhill Miners Amateur Boxing Club in Cardenden and recently headlined the first all-female boxing show in Scotland, hosted by Bowhill Boxing.

A total of 16 bouts took place on the night with Niamh, only the second Scot to win gold at the European Junior Championships, and only the seventh Scottish male or female fighter to become a European champion at any level, brought the show to a close against Canadian Kelsee McPhee.
Although she moved up to 57kg for the fight, it didn't stop her in her tracks as the Rosyth teenager won by unanimous decision.

Niamh was pleased to secure her latest title at the evening at the Glen Pavilion.
"It is amazing – all the opportunities I am given, I am so grateful for them," she said. "It has been a whirlwind. When I saw what everyone else had done, I was a bit blown away.
"I am grateful to have been given it."
Not wanting to stand still, Niamh has her sights set on more boxing success.
"I have got lots of goals and I am not stopping until I get them," she added. "The world championships, hopefully a medal at them, and hopefully I will get down and get an assessment with the GM team."
